The Property Academy is undertaking the biggest study of the British estate agency industry for the second year running, in a quest to shine a light on the best performing agents and improve customer service standards.
The Best Estate Agent Guide is a recognition scheme, awards ceremony and website that identifies and rates the top estate and letting agency branches in the country.
It is compiled by the Property Academy and supported by UK’s leading property portal Rightmove, following the most comprehensive assessment of its type ever undertaken of the property industry.

Each year, we seek to learn from and improve the process. Based on our experience and listening to feedback, we have reviewed the methodology for finding and rewarding the best estate agents and introduced a number of improvements.
We assess four key areas: Marketing and lead generation; results – including whether the property sold or let and how quickly; customer experience; and market share
- Over 25,000 branches
- 1 millions properties listed on Rightmove at any one point in time
- 1.5 million transactions
- 25 million leads
- 1.5 billion property views
- 50,000 mystery shops (whole of market)
- Market share score
From this analysis, we identify the top 20% of branches and rate them exceptional (top 5%), excellent (top 10%) and highly rated (top 20%) for both sales and lettings.
For 2018, we will create company as well as individual branch scores. The very best companies and branches are celebrated at the EA Masters event, which includes the Best Estate Agent Guide Awards.
Identifying the best agents, listing them in the Best Estate Agent Guide and displaying the distinctive winner’s marks in the find agent section of Rightmove is completely free of charge to agents.
Only licensed branches are permitted to promote their performance rating in the Best Estate Agent Guide in other ways – including, but not limited to on agent’s own websites, social media channels, print and branch marketing.
